The historic town was established before cars, so narrow streets and little parking make biking a great option for getting around and enjoying the area while being in the middle of it all. Hop on a bike provided by Gale Force Bikes and explore the many bike paths near Herring Cove Beach. Annual biking season is April to October.
Rentals
Whether you want to bike around the trails and streets of Provincetown for a couple hours or have a bike ready to go whenever you please during your weekly or monthly stay, the staff at Gale Force Bikes are prepared to accommodate you. Should a part need replacing or fixing, there’s a full-service repair department to keep the bikes of Provincetown in top condition.
Maps
Plan your biking route with one of their provided trail maps. Make sure your route includes points of interest like Beech Forest, Province Lands Visitor Center, and Herring Cove Beach. There’s information like trail length, so you can plan the route that best suits your group’s ability level.
Tours
Take a bike tour with a knowledgeable, local guide. Tours are offered in conjunction with the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies on Thursdays starting in late June and through early September. The tour starts at Gale Force Bikes and winds 8-12 miles through hilly terrain on a 2.5-hour excursion. Learn about the local flora and fauna of the second-oldest public lands in the nation, as well as early settlers. Bring your own bike or rent one from Gale Force Bikes before departing. Reservations required.
Accessories & Parts
Extra baskets, racks, ride-in trailers for the little ones, and even pet-friendly trailers to tow your fur babies are available to make your ride everything you hoped for. If your bike needs a tube, new wheel or tire, or something else, you’ll find it. Prepare for a day in the sun with gloves, sunglasses, protective eye wear, and even clothing.
Beach Market
Fuel up before heading out. Stop in and shop the market and deli for sandwiches, wraps, beverages, ice cream, picnic supplies, and even beach items like towels, bathing suits, and beach toys. (Only open Memorial Day through Labor Day)
