Dennis Port’s excellent mid-Cape and seaside location on Route 28 and close access to the mid-Cape highway makes it an ideal vacation destination.Get on your bike, in your car or just take a walk around Dennis Port ( it’s just about 1 mile from downtown to Nantucket Sound via South St. and Depot St. ) and see if you can find some of these old places and then head downtown for a coffee, drink, bite to eat and maybe a little shopping. Brewster is bordered on the north by Cape Cod Bay, on the west by Dennis, on the south by Harwich, and on the east by Orleans. Brewster is home to the Nickerson State Forest Park, the largest state forest on Cape Cod. The town has several large ponds including Long Pond, especially along the Harwich town line and there are several brooks throughout the town, all of which lead to Cape Cod Bay. The bay is also home to several boat landings and beaches in the town. Enjoy the Cape Cod Rail Trail, as well as several other bicycle trails that pass through the town.
Hyannis is the largest of the seven villages in the town of Barnstable. It is famous for the “Kennedy Compound” and has a fun downtown area of shops and restaurants. The community was named after Iyanough, or Yanno, a sachem of the Cummaquid Indians.
Centerville is one of the seven villages in the town of Barnstable. Located on the south side of Barnstable, Centerville is primarily residential, includes a small business district, notable beaches, and a school and library (Centerville Elementary and Centerville Library).
