What to Do While You’re Staying in Falmouth Vacation Rentals
Beaches – We would be derelict in our duties if we didn’t start out by mentioning the beaches. Falmouth is famous for having more public beaches than most other cities and towns on the Cape, and since this section of the Cape is where the warmer waters are, a day spent at a Falmouth Beach is one well spent!
One of the most well-known beaches is Old Silver Beach. Popular Old Silver Beach lies on the western shores of Falmouth and offers a spectacular view of Buzzards Bay. Though large, this beach gets crowded early. It is split into two sections, each with its own parking lot. One side is for only residents who have beach stickers, the other for the general public. The beaches are separated by a small rock jetty and both are equally nice. Old Silver Beach, with its warm waters from Buzzards Bay, is as popular as it is beautiful. Parking fills up quickly, so get there early or find alternate means of transportation. Watch out for the currents, which are strong at high tide, particularly near the jetty.
Hiking Trails – There’s something wonderful about communing with nature as you hike the many trails of Falmouth. It’s more than exercise you are getting, it’s the opportunity to experience the “wild” side of the Cape alone or with your family. Combine the hike with a trip to the Nobska Point Lighthouse and bring your camera; this is one of Falmouth’s most scenic spots!
The Knob at Quissett Harbor Trail is the friendliest trail in Falmouth. Head out of parking lot by the harbor for a few yards before entering the woods. Head up long steps to the right and gain the main loop. This trail will go thru some lush coastal wood and eventually pass a small beach access. Continuing on, you’ll gain the actual knob in roughly 1/2 mile of hiking. A great vantage point of Buzzards Bay and some major exposure to whatever the weather has in store at that moment. Returning into the woods, you can cut right; this will complete the loop. There are a couple of accesses down to the water’s edge on the harbor side. This is the best and extremely family friendly trail!
Restaurants – We love our seafood and we know how to cook it. Stop in to ANY of our delicious restaurants and discover the true meaning of a Cape Cod vacation: lobster dinners! There is no way to choose a favorite; they are all so good!
A local favorite is the British Beer Company. The British Beer Company pub offers ales, stouts, authentic British pub fare, and features the area’s best rock and blue bands. This amazing restaurant and pub is the perfect summary of the area from the freshness of the menu to the classic Cape Cod architecture of the building. From beginning to end of this amazing place, you will see the history and charm of the Cape Cod area.
