It happens every year at this time—suddenly we turn the page of the calendar, October is over and Thanksgiving and Christmas are just a short time away! How did this happen? Only yesterday it was the first day of summer and NOW IT IS CHRISTMAS?!!! Fortunately, you were smart this year, and determined that your holidays would be spent in one of the most beautiful spots on earth: Cape Cod. Good planning, my friends! Because we are so proud of you for thinking ahead, we are going to offer up a list of holiday experiences on Cape Cod that will make you even happier!

Isn’t Cape Cod a Summer Vacation Spot?

While the Cape is traditionally a summer vacation paradise, the reality of this beautiful vacation destination is that it’s beauty can be enjoyed year-round, and at Christmas, Cape Cod really shines! The weather is perfect for a visit from everyone’s favorite jolly old elf: cold, crisp, and snowy, just like his home at the North Pole!

Holiday Events on Cape Cod

Lobster Pot Christmas Tree – Because we like to be a little different than most, Provincetown offers the lighting of the Lobster Pot Christmas tree!

Gardens Aglow – The Heritage Museums and Gardens in Sandwich dress up their already stunning gardens from November 25th through December 18th with 10 miles of twinkle lights, marshmallow roasts, and visits from the jolly guy himself!

Polar Express – You and your children can live the story of the Polar Express aboard a Cape Cod Central Railroad train in Buzzards Bay featuring hot cocoa, a dramatic reading of the book, and a visit from Santa!

Falmouth Holidays by the Sea – The season kicks off with the largest parade in the region—after Santa arrives by boat, that is; his reindeer need to conserve energy for the big night! After the parade on Thanksgiving Day, Falmouth becomes Christmas central with caroling and the downtown stroll. This town is one of the more festive ones on Cape Cod, and that is saying a lot!

Brewster for the Holidays – In addition to the traditional Christmas festivities, Brewster offers blacksmith demonstrations and the annual lighting of the Windmill in Drummer Boy Park.

Hyannis Christmas Stroll and Harbor Lighting – Hyannis is where you want to be December 2nd. Daytime celebrations include rides in horse drawn carriages, carolers strolling the streets of downtown, and a petting zoo. But as soon as the sun sets, the real fun begins with a boat parade! The boats are lit up and dressed in their holiday finest. We love Hyannis at Christmas and we think you will too!
