Few things are better than having fun for a great cause, and the Harwich Cranberry Festival combines the best of both to create one of Cape Cod’s most beloved annual events. Read on below to learn more about the Harwich Cranberry Festival!
Founded in 1976 as a centennial celebration, the Harwich Cranberry Festival brings over ten thousand people together to enjoy the best of Harwich’s live music, arts and crafts fairs, and cranberries for a fun-filled festival that serves as a fundraiser for improvements in Harwich, from student scholarships to the Family Day end-of-summer party for the community held annually on the weekend after Labor Day.
The festival takes place over the course of two days on the third weekend of September each year, during which time the fields behind the Harwich Community Center become filled with over one hundred and fifty vendors, as well as a stage for live musical acts and an outdoor dance floor. The musicians that participate come from a variety of genres, ranging from rock to bluegrass and funk.
The Harwich Cranberry Festival is free to attend, though the vendors, community booths, food trucks, and beer and wine gardens included in the event all charge for their wares. The arts festival portion takes place from 9:00am to 4:00pm on the Saturday and Sunday of the event, while the CranJam music portion is held from 12:00pm to 8:00pm on that Saturday. A fireworks show is also held during the festival.
