You won’t find the same experience in a hotel or resort!

The Cape Cod area has much to offer in the way of amazing seasonal and annual festivals and events. In the spring, Nantucket Island hosts their Annual Daffodil Weekend during late-April, when over three million daffodils come into bloom all over the island in a true vision of spring. To celebrate the season, Nantucket hosts an antique car parade, a dog parade, and a children’s parade in which participants are bedecked in daffodil blooms, in addition to a daffodil show, tailgate picnic, and daffy hat pageant. Similarly, the town of Brewster also holds a spring celebration around the same time that includes arts and crafts and a 5K to benefit the Elder Brewster Scholarship.

During the summer, Nantucket Island again hosts another wonderful festival: the Nantucket Food & Wine Festival, which takes place during mid-May each year. While this event is not family-friendly due to no children being allowed, it makes for a delicious and fun event for adults.

At the end of the Cape, Provincetown celebrates the Provincetown Film Festival in June (as does Nantucket Island with the Nantucket Island Film Festival), hosting actors, directors like Quentin Tarantino, independent films, and more. The town also partakes in Carnival, a weeklong celebration that takes place for one week in the middle of August during which locals and visitors enjoy a fantastic parade, live music, artisan crafts, and parties all centered around elaborate costumes and themed revelry, with a new theme chosen every year.

Also taking place in mid-August is Oak Bluffs’ Grand Illumination and Fireworks on Martha’s Vineyard, a two-part event in which local cottages are adorned with Chinese and Japanese-style lanterns and fireworks are released into the sky.

In autumn, the town of Harwich holds its annual Cranberry Festival in mid-September, celebrating the fruit for which the region is famous with live music, parades, food, crafts, and more. Just one month later in mid-October, Wellfleet hosts the annual Wellfleet OysterFest, similarly dedicated to a regional staple.

Finally, in the winter season, Chatham celebrates an event known as First Night. On each New Year’s Eve, the town puts on a show with live music, dancing, ice and wood carving, a parade, and more.
