Nestled along the Nantucket Sound in West Chatham between Cockle Cove and Harding’s Beach, Ridgevale Beach is renowned for its vast area, stunning sightseeing, and gentle waves, which allow for many families to come enjoy all that it has to offer.
Perfect for picking up souvenir seashells and soaking up the sun’s rays, Ridgevale Beach in Chatham is a popular place for swimming, lounging, and games played in the sand, like volleyball. The warm and calm waters of the Nantucket Sound make it possible for visitors to indulge in swimming beyond Labor Day, as well as enjoy the number of tidal pools with teeming with marine life.
Nearby, visitors will also find that there are a number of creeks to play in, such as Eel Creek and Buck’s Creek. Additionally, the bike rack makes it ideal to go riding on a beach cruiser along the boardwalk or the sand. Ridgevale Beach is also a pet-friendly beach during mid-September through late April, provided that your pet remains on-leash.
Seasonally, you’ll find that there’s a snack bar offered on the beach, and lifeguards are on duty from June 21st through September 1st between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm. There are also restrooms at Ridgevale Beach, as well as boat rentals through Nauti Jane’s Boat Rentals. We recommend trying your hand at fishing or simply boating in the open water around Ridgevale Beach and taking in the sights. Don’t forget to bring your camera!
Parking and non-resident fees include $15.00 per day, $60.00 per week, and $125.00 for the entire season. These passes can be purchased on-site at the beach, and are also good for other beaches in town.
