Cape Cod, Massachusetts has a long history of being actively dedicated to preserving its exquisite environment, with few residents being as committed to the cause as author, playwright, illustrator, and set and costume designer Edward Gorey. Located in Yarmouth Port, his historic home, which previously belonged to a sea captain centuries ago, has served as a museum centered around Gorey’s life and works in the arts and in animal welfare since 2002.
The museum serves to honor the legacy of Gorey’s most beloved causes by educating the public on both local and national animal welfare issues, as inspired by the lens of his dynamic life and diverse talents.
Admission Hours and Pricing
The Edward Gorey House in Cape Cod is open during the months of April through December, with varying hours depending on the season. If you find yourself planning a visit to the Edward Gorey House as a part of your visit to Cape Cod, you may find it helpful to coordinate your plans with the hours of operation listed below.
During the spring and summer season of April 15th through July 3rd, the museum operates four days each week, from 11:00am until 4:00pm on Thursday through Saturday, and from a later start time of 12:00pm until 4:00pm on Sundays.
The summer and autumn season of July 6th until October 9th is when the Edward Gorey House is open for five days per week, from Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm, with Sunday hours being from 12:00pm until 4:00pm. This is the museum’s most popular season.
Throughout the autumn through winter season, which takes place during the period of October 14th through December 31st, the Edward Gorey House is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00am until 4:00pm, and on Sundays from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.
