Top End of Summer Activities on Cape Cod
Cape Cod is an amazing place that offers relaxation and excitement to visitors regardless of the time of year. One of our favorite times of year is the end of summer, just before fall really kicks into gear. It is great because the crowds are nowhere near the size of those in the heat of summer. The weather is also perfect, with beautiful days with a little nip in the air. Here are a few of the things that you should do as summer comes to a close on Cape Cod.
Take a Dip in the Atlantic
The next few weeks before the middle of October will present your final chances to take a swim before the weather turns chilly. The water is not too cold, and you can still soak up consistent sunshine. Plus, the beaches will be much quieter, so you can find one of a kind relaxation on the beach on a late summer day. One of Cape Cod’s best beaches for swimming and relaxing is Paines Creek Beach in Brewster, and the sunsets here are to die for!
Travel the Cape Cod Rail Trail Before the Trees are Bare
The Rail Trail is a paved trail that stretches along the Cape for 22 miles. The end of summer is the perfect time to enjoy a walk or bike ride along it. This is because the weather is perfect and the landscape is stunning during the early fall. Vibrant greens shimmer alongside the first changing leaves, creating a wonderful smattering of color.
Catch the End of Summer Art Exhibits
The culture on Cape Cod is one that relies on art for much of its expression. As such, there are countless amazing galleries with exhibits that are unique to the summer months, and this is your last chance to see them this year. “Color, Color Everywhere” is an exhibit at the Cross Rip Gallery celebrating the amazing beauty of the coming fall. This exhibit is open until October 9th. The “Treasures Fine Art Exhibit” is a collection of works of all mediums, each celebrating something special to someone. This is available until October 15th at the Cape Cod Art Association.
Nighttime Fishing
There is never a bad time for fishing on Cape Cod, but the end of summer offers a unique experience. As this time of year is still pretty warm, fishing at night is the way to go. If you have ever tried this, you know it is one of the most interesting things you can do, because fishing is done during the day typically. This is loads of fun, and you are sure to get some bites from a wide variety of fish in the Atlantic.
If you are looking to get away before summer is officially over, consider a trip to Cape Cod. You can enjoy all the items mentioned above and so much more. There certainly is no bad time to visit, but you will absolutely love Cape Cod this time of year.
