Sometimes the most difficult part about celebrating Easter is knowing what day it falls upon, so this year we’re giving you a head’s up! Easter is on Sunday, April 12th, which is just a few weeks away. If you’re planning on a holiday getaway, you might want to start getting those plans in gear soon! And after a long winter’s break, our New England Vacation Rentals holiday escapes have been refreshed, renewed, and are simply waiting to celebrate with you. Can you imagine a better way to enjoy this very important occasion than Easter 2020 on Cape Cod? We can’t, especially knowing all the different ways you can celebrate around the Cape. This guide may help convince you, if you haven’t completely committed to your decision yet!

Easter Egg Hunts

Many families are hesitant about traveling over the Easter holiday for a variety of reasons, including the fact that their young children may miss out on their favorite part of the holiday, the Easter egg hunt. Fortunately, we on Cape Cod have children too, and everyone is invited to partake in these eggstra-special events! Held the day before Easter, the egg hunt in Falmouth is the best known, costing nothing and offering the opportunity for your wee one to get his or her picture taken with the Easter Bunny. The fun starts at 10 AM. Photos will be taken during the first hour and the scramble begins at 11 AM with over 8000 eggs scattered across the grounds of the Falmouth Library on 300 Main Street. Historically, Chatham has held its own free egg hunt at Kate Gould Park, also on the Saturday before Easter, as do Brewster, Harwich, and many other Cape Cod villages and towns.

Easter Feasts

Although the chocolate bunny and Reese’s Eggs are often the highlight of our holiday celebrations, the Easter feast is something we all look forward too—just not the cooking of said feast! Many restaurants on Cape Cod are open on Easter, offering a special Easter brunch, including The Pheasant, located at 905 Main Street in Dennis. Housed in a barn that is many centuries old, the food served here is all-American with a touch of French flair; their menu changes with the season, but we are hoping with fingers crossed that their Easter brunch includes their Chocolate Olive Oil Cake topped with rose buttercream and Luxardo cherry! Brax Landing Restaurant at 705 MA-28 in Harwich Port has historically been open for a special Easter Dinner, as has the Old Yarmouth Inn, located at 223 MA-6A in Yarmouth Port. It’s still a little early for most restaurants to report their menus, but we can promise they will all be delicious!

Sunrise Services

Another reason many families don’t travel for the Easter holiday is their reluctance to miss out on their most cherished tradition, the sunrise service. There’s no reason that you will have to skip the service during your stay on Cape Cod; we offer pretty much all denominations of churches, and all welcome guests warmly! The comfort received when worshipping outside as the sun rises over the Cape sticks with you for months to come and having the opportunity to make new friends while doing so is a priceless one.

Celebrating with New England Vacation Rentals

The best part about your Easter getaway on Cape Cod is knowing you don’t have to leave the boundaries of your vacation rental to celebrate in all the ways you love most. Our family vacation homes offer all the comforts of home, which in many cases include a large yard that is perfect for hiding Easter eggs! Your children won’t miss a thing as they search for colorful eggs in the crook of the tree overlooking the patio, under the arm of the Adirondack chair on the porch, or next to the brightly colored bocce balls found on the court that belongs to at least one of our favorite rentals.

Book an Easter Stay!

The fully equipped kitchens offer the perfect place to create the Easter brunch of your dreams; load up on foodstuffs at any of the grocery stores near your rental and cook to your heart’s content! The grocery store is a great place to pick up ingredients for your kids’ Easter baskets, but if you want to add something extra-special to their baskets, plan a visit to Ducks in the Window, located at 507 Main Street in Chatham. Find the “Easter” duck that best matches your child’s personality and prepare to see the look of joy wash over their face at their first glimpse! The ducks from this store are world famous, and if you pick up one for yourself while you’re there, trust us, no one will blame you one bit!

For those who choose a beachside Easter escape, a sunrise walk on the shores is the perfect way to share some personal time with a loved one.
