It’s no coincidence that the meals served here are often considered heavenly; the building that is now known as the Impudent Oyster in Chatham, MA did previous duty as a church! This small clapboard-sided restaurant located at 15 Chatham Bars Avenue is open every day of the week and has been a success since opening day, offering its guests an energetic place to enjoy refreshing drinks, great meals, and the company of other like-minded individuals. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality of food served here, making this wonderful restaurant in Cape Cod rise to the top of our most loved list!

Casual and Warm

Inside, high ceilings and white walls trimmed with wood paneling and the occasional stained-glass accents make you feel as if you have just stopped by your best friend’s house—if she lived in a church, that is! The dress code is plastic lobster bib, and the ambience is comfortable. Inviting, warm, and cozy, the Impudent Oyster in Chatham is often busy, so reservations are warranted for dinner.

Bellying Up to the Bar

Impudent Oyster in Chatham features an extensive wine list that can be ordered by the glass, or an even larger one when nothing but an entire bottle will do, knowledgeable staff can help you determine which wine tastes best with each dish you order. The beer list includes some domestic, some foreign, and quite a few great tasting craft beers—all of which go well with the oysters! The talented bartender also has a list of specialty cocktails that will take away the chill on colder nights and offer welcome refreshment on a warm summer night. Our favorite has to be the Escape to Palm Beach, with Deep Eddy peach vodka, pomegranate juice, soda water, and a slice of lemon; you almost expect to walk outside to palm trees after one of these!

Making Us Hungry

Pretty much every meal found on Cape Cod is enhanced with a start of clam chowder, but if that’s not enough to keep the hunger pangs away until the main event, their Queso Fondido or Salt Cod Tater Tots can be added to your meal! Sandwiches are the main event at lunch, and all are generously proportioned. After all, your explorations can work up quite the appetite! Our favorite dinner is the Pesca Fra Diablo, a spicy dish that comes with local littlenecks, lobster, and fresh seafood simmered in a sauce filled with heat, herbs, and vegetables.
