Since the mid-1990s, Nantucket has evolved into the wine capital of Cape Cod, playing host to the Nantucket Wine Festival and drawing in world-renowned wine makers and chefs to the famously serene island for five days of tastings, brunches, lunches, dinners, seminars, and events that celebrate upscale dining and high-end wine. The event, which attracts over three thousand visitors to the island, takes place over the third week of each May, from Wednesday through Sunday.
Highlights of the Nantucket Wine Festival include the Grand Tasting and the Harbor Gala. The Grand Tasting highlights the products of over two hundred vineyards and wineries, while the Harbor Gala offers festival attendees the chance to pair the exquisite showcased wines with the artfully crafted culinary creations of master chefs from Nantucket and mainland Cape Cod. Seminars during the event cover topics like winemaking, tasting profiles, and wine events.
