Sandwich Shines Bright

It’s impossible to choose a favorite town or village of Cape Cod, each has a long list of things that make them special, but Sandwich would probably come close. It is the oldest town on Cape Cod, settled in 1639 and is also home to the oldest building on Cape Cod, the Wing Fort House, believed to have been built in 1641. The Sandwich Glass Museum is one of our favorite museums on Cape Cod, offering colorful exhibits of glass that was created under its roof over the last couple of centuries. Home to the Dunbar Tea House, visitors can enjoy an English style high tea during their Sandwich adventures, much in the same way they might have hundreds of years ago.

The Sanctuary of Sagamore Beach

Sagamore Beach is one of Bourne’s nine villages, offering a peaceful retreat, and it is rarely crowded like other Cape Cod towns. Famous for its tranquil beaches and being home to Scusset Beach State Reservation, offering a pristine beach that provides lifeguards in the summer months, picnic areas, and a pier that is ideal for a little saltwater fishing. Considered one of Cape Cod’s hidden gems, you won’t be able to stop yourself from falling in love with this quiet village. The Canal Café is another hidden gem, serving hearty seafood meals, tasty cocktails, and offering the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood pub, ensuring that everyone feels welcome when dining there. Or take your food home to your Sagamore Beach, Cape Cod rentals.

Bourne to Be Memorable

400 years ago, Bourne was known for the part it played in Cape Cod’s success, serving as a trading center for the pilgrims who settled here, and today, you can get a glimpse into that fascinating time period with a visit to Aptucxet Trading Post Museum. This museum is an open air one, centered around the replica of an original Pilgrim building and is often the site of many local festivals, including the Cranberry Harvest Festival that takes place every October. Keeping things historical, the festival features cranberries, native food tastings, and plant demonstrations as well as a beekeeping exhibit, while also providing a long list of fun activities for the children. Wings Neck Lighthouse, located in one of Bourne’s villages, Pocasset, while not open for tours offers a beautiful backdrop to any of your Cape Cod pictures. Pocasset is also home to the Corner Café, one of the Cape’s best breakfast restaurants, offering all your favorite morning dishes, including the very hearty and very delicious farmers breakfast.
