Plenty to Do
Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod is a protected beach area located in the charming village of Eastham. Over the years, it has often been voted one of America’s best beaches. A perfect swimming spot in the summer, the sheer beauty of the beach makes it a year-round destination for your vacation fun. Long summer days spent boogie boarding at the shores edge, playing volleyball in the sand, and sitting on the beach with an umbrella and a great book can only be topped by a bonfire under the stars at night; however, you will need a fire permit. (You can get your Coast Guard Beach Fire Permit by visiting the Salt Pond Visitor Center on Route 6 in Eastham). This beach also has lifeguards and restroom facilities.
Because Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod is a part of the National Seashore (an area protected by the government for wildlife purposes, while still allowing swimming for the human variety of wildlife), the views along this stretch of sandy land are amongst the best on Cape Cod. Swimming season begins in Mid-June and ends after Labor Day weekend, and parking is basically limited to residents in the area, so a free shuttle is offered at the Little Creek parking lot on Doane Road. During the off-season, it is too cold to swim, but a walk along this breathtaking beach will be a breath of fresh air, and the opportunity to see some seals frolicking in the surf may be just what the doctor ordered!
