Get Comfortable

The best parts of your vacations are the moments that stretch out before you, waiting to be filled with fun and frolic, and when you realize there is no need to set the alarm, no worries about missing kids school events, and your return to real life still is a distant thought. You will be thankful that you chose to take an entire week (or more!) for your Sandwich vacation as you plan on having fun and being lazy! Now don’t get us wrong, there are still very important things you will need to do in the interim. Naps on soft sofas are waiting to be taken, books to be read, and at least seven toasts to the sunset must be made—one for each day of your stay! Can you remember the last time you were able to read an entire book, cover to cover, in a single day? Chances are it’s been years, and this extended vacation on Cape Cod is the perfect time to remedy the situation. Pick a day, any day, and sleep in as late as you want, perhaps choosing a book from a shelf right there in your Sandwich cottage and placing it on the nightstand next to your room. When you awake, but aren’t quite ready for breakfast, you can pick it up and begin your adventures in the literary world, propping yourself up against the headboard of what is perhaps the most comfortable bed you have ever slept in!

Because you are great at planning ahead and knew that you wanted to spend as much time at home as possible, a stop at Cape Cod Donuts allows you to stroll into the kitchen, open up a box and sit at the breakfast bar with a fresh cup of coffee, (all our fully equipped kitchens come with the very important small appliances!) a donut in hand, and the book open before you! The dining room tables are also great places to eat, sip, and read, providing incredible views, especially when you choose one of our beachfront cottages, and when the story on the pages get a little too intense, you can stare out onto the sea for a quick dose of calm. On chilly mornings, a fire in the fireplace of our living rooms will help combat the cold, and as you sink into that chair you knew would be perfect for reading, a blanket nearby can be pulled over you to increase the cozy factor as you read and read and read, giving a little sigh of grief mixed with joy when you reach the end of the story.

Of course, not all of our guests are readers, and that’s ok; there are plenty of other ways to be lazy in one of our beautiful weekly vacation rentals! We mentioned naps earlier, and our living room spaces do provide the most comfortable and nappable of sofas—plus, they also contain state-of-the-art televisions, so go ahead and binge watch your favorite shows! Rainy days don’t have to rain on your parade, they can give you an opportunity to play board games at the dining room table with your family, bake a batch of brownies in the kitchen, or spend a lovely day watching videos on your phone connected to Wi-Fi, because even in the oldest town on Cape Cod, wireless internet is an included amenity! Take long baths in deep tubs, accompanied by a glass of chilled wine and some soft music. Daydream about the adventures you are enjoying and the ones that have yet to be experienced as you sit on the patio, relaxing in the summer sun; your week in paradise gives you plenty of time to slow the pace way down and still enjoy everything that Sandwich and Cape Cod has to offer!

Dig in Deeper

During a short getaway, your itinerary may include quick visits to local attractions as you try to see as many things as you can, but on a longer vacation you can decide to take more time exploring the activities or sites that really appeal to you. Take a private jam-making class at the Green Brier Nature Center and Jam Kitchen (6 Discovery Hill Road in East Sandwich) and pick up a new skill that you can take home and enjoy for years to come. Explore the restaurant scene in Sandwich, trying out a new place for every meal, and although you won’t be able to eat at them all, you will still return home feeling satisfied that you gave it the old college try! Walk along the sidewalks of town, soaking in the historic ambience, taking pictures of scenery, houses, and your family in front of any of the lighthouses in the region. You have the time and can take full advantage of every minute, and when your outside adventures are complete, coming home to the sanctuary of our New England Vacation Rentals Sandwich escapes will be the highlight of your getaway. Reserve your favorite today!
