Shawme Crowell State Forest MA is a Massachusetts State Forest in the town of Sandwich in Barnstable County. The forest is made up of mostly pitch pine and scrub oak trees and is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. Part of the forest includes the Joint Base Cape Cod and more specifically Camp Edwards military base.
Along with the miles of forests, Shawme-Crowell State Forest has two campgrounds that visitors can take advantage of. These two campgrounds have over two hundred and eighty five sites in a wooded setting and offer Yurt Camping as well. Along with the campgrounds, the Shawme Crowell State Forest MA has more than 15 miles of roads and trails that provide both hiking and equestrian access to over seven hundred acres of pitch pine and scrub oak landscape. These trails are also perfect for hiking, biking, cross country skiing and bird watching during your trip.
Along with daily camping, Shawme Crowell State Forest MA is perfect for group events. We know that summer is a popular time for family reunions, company picnics and the like, and Shawme-Crowell is a perfect place to host your event. The park offers different group day use options that include covered patios, picnic areas, and waterside cooking areas that are perfect for your group event. These areas need to be reserved in advance and may require hiring of a state trooper for your event.
